Meadow Hay

Good meadow hay forms the basis of your horse’s diet. But not every horse has the same needs. A young horse, sport horse, older pony or sugar-sensitive horse may require different nutritional values. That’s why Hay to You offers different batches of meadow hay, in a range of sizes and with different nutritional profiles. So you can choose the hay that best suits your animal.

Meadow hay analysed by batch

We believe it’s important that you know what you’re feeding your animal. That’s why every batch of meadow hay is analysed separately. In our webshop, you can see how each batch scores for factors including energy, protein and sugar, ranging from very low to very high. We also provide information about its colour, smell and structure.

We deliberately analyse each individual batch rather than using average nutritional values. This gives you a clearer picture of what is actually in the bale and makes it easier to compare different batches. Want to know more? Read our blog about analysed hay.

Carefully inspected meadow hay

For us, quality is about more than nutritional values alone. We also take a close look at what is growing in the field. Before mowing, the field is checked for harmful plants such as common ragwort and autumn crocus. If we find them, we reject the batch.

Dust is another important factor. We don’t include batches with high levels of dust in our range. Some of our meadow hay is also recompressed into small bales. During this process, 70 to 80% of the dust and chaff present is removed.

Our meadow hay comes from different meadows in the Netherlands and abroad. We’re fortunate to have met reliable farmers over the years and built strong relationships with them. They work hard to maintain the quality of their grass, helping us achieve our shared goal of offering our customers the best possible quality.

This broad sourcing network allows us to choose from a wide range of batches. And we’re selective about what makes the cut. Because we go for gold and green. Only the best batches make it into the Hay to You webshop!
